There are some topics - such as the game of football - of which I have a deep understanding. There are other topics - such as anything relating to automobiles - of which I have no understanding. I have found that a lot of school districts and organizations assume their stakeholders understand topics when really this is not the case. Organizational leadership must identify gaps in understanding and make sure information is communicated in a way that makes sense to the average person.
An example of communication geared toward the average person is provided below. At this point in my career I am by no means an expert on finances and taxes, but this limited understanding worked to my advantage as I created a graphic that was meant to help the average community member understand how the changes to the tax rate is going to help him or her in the future.
